Research Director, Environmental Engineer
Florent Chazarenc is Research Director at INRAE, within the REVERSAAL research unit in Lyon. An engineer and PhD holder in environmental engineering, he specialises in the design and optimisation of low-energy wastewater treatment systems and resource recovery — particularly phosphorus and nitrogen — from industrial and domestic wastewater. He has been developing extensive treatment processes such as constructed wetlands and activated sludge systems for over twenty years, with a particular interest in bioflocculation and carbon valorisation. He supervises PhD students and leads multidisciplinary research teams.
