Veterinarian and Health Ecologist, Research Director
Hélène De Nys is a veterinarian and health ecologist at Cirad, currently based in Harare, Zimbabwe, within the ASTRE research unit. Her research focuses on the emergence of zoonotic diseases at the wildlife/domestic animal/human interface, with a particular emphasis on sub-Saharan Africa. Her work includes studies on Ebola and filoviruses, viral transmission in non-human primate populations, and antimicrobial resistance at human-wildlife interfaces in Central and West Africa. She also contributes to participatory approaches to community-based epidemiological surveillance, aimed at strengthening early detection capacities for zoonotic diseases in the Global South.
