President of the General Assembly of PREZODE International Initiative, Senior Technical Advisor to the Presidency of Senegal and Board Member of AFROHUN
A Veterinarian and recognized expert in animal health and the “One Health” approach, Dr. Papa Seck is the first elected President PREZODE. He also serves as Senior Technical Advisor to the Presidency of Senegal, providing expertise in Livestock, Animal Health, Fisheries, Global Health Security and Global Health Diplomacy.
His commitment to One Health adoption and to cross-sectoral collaboration in the Africa region led him to join the Board of Directors of AFROHUN (Africa One Health University Network), a pan-African network based on the “One Health” approach, focused on training and capacity-building in public health. A leader in One Health, he pioneered its implementation in Senegal.
Previously, he worked for the Senegalese government as a Senior Technical Advisor in the Prime Minister’s office and as a Researcher at the Senegalese Institute for Agronomic Research (ISRA). He has also taught infectious pathology at the University Cheikh Anta DIOP of Dakar and microbiology at the Inter-States School of Veterinary Medicine (EISMV) of Dakar, where he got his Doctorate.
With extensive international experience, Papa Seck played a key role in global and regional initiatives and strategies for health security such as the World Fund for Animal Health and Welfare at the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA), United Against Rabies and in strategic negotiations and forums, including the WHO INB and COP 28.
He co-led the RESOLAB sub-regional network on foot-and-mouth disease for West and Central Africa. He is a strong advocate for scientific and institutional cooperation to enhance global health resilience. Papa Seck is a Knight of the National Order of the Lion of Senegal.
