World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH)
Dr. Chadia Wannous is the Head of the One Health and Global Frameworks Department at the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH). Her work focuses on preventing and reducing the risk of health threats at the human–animal–environment interface through the One Health approach.
Before joining WOAH, Dr. Wannous held several leadership roles within the United Nations system, where she specialized in the prevention, preparedness, and response to health emergencies. She served as Senior Policy Advisor to both the UN Special Envoy on Ebola in West Africa and the UN System Influenza Coordination. She also led the Toward a Safer World Network for Pandemic Preparedness, coordinated the health dimensions of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, and managed its Science and Technology Partnership.
Dr. Wannous contributes her expertise to several prominent international steering committees, including the International Alliance Against Health Risks in Wildlife Trade, and the Council of the International Society of Infectious Diseases.
Dr. Wannous is a public health expert with a PhD in International Health and Development from Tulane University, USA, and a Master of Science in Health Research from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, UK.
Chadia is a member of the International Organizations College of the Steering Committee.
