A dedicated booth welcomed our members, partners, and visitors.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Held in Lisbon, Portugal, from September 4\u20137, 2026, <a href=\"https:\/\/globalohc.org\/9WOHC\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/globalohc.org\/9WOHC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the World One Health Congress<\/a> brought together experts from around the world working on One Health science and policy. The four-day program includes parallel tracks on One Health science, antimicrobial agents and resistance, and the science-policy interface, among other topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This flagship event for the One Health community gave PREZODE the opportunity to meet with its partners and experts and to co-organize two major sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">From Response to Prevention: Financing and Partnerships for Sustainable One Health Impact<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Co-organized with the World Bank Group<\/strong><br><strong>September 5 &#8211; 12:45 &#8211; 13:45 &#8211; Auditorium I<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Co-chaired by <strong>Andre Carletto<\/strong>, Senior Economist at the World Bank Group, and <a href=\"https:\/\/prezode-initiative.org\/en\/member\/epidemiologist-and-deputy-director-of-the-integrated-health-research-unit-cirad\/\">Dr. Marisa Peyre, <\/a>epidemiologist and co-founder of PREZODE, this <a href=\"https:\/\/globalohc.org\/minisite\/9WOHC\/program#sat-5-sep-2026\">parallel session<\/a> was moderated by <a href=\"https:\/\/prezode-initiative.org\/en\/member\/chadia-wannous\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/prezode-initiative.org\/en\/member\/chadia-wannous\/\">Dr. Chadia <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/prezode-initiative.org\/en\/member\/chadia-wannous\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/prezode-initiative.org\/en\/member\/chadia-wannous\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wannous<\/a>, Public Health specialist at the World Organisation for Animal Health. The discussion brought together <strong>H.E. Prof. Abderahim Awad Ateib<\/strong>, Minister of Livestock, Chad, <strong>Cl\u00e1udia Fernandes de Brito<\/strong>, Ministry of Environment, Climate Action and Energy, Cabo Verde, <strong>Dr. Salvador Ngoande<\/strong>, Executive Secretary of CEBEVIRHA (Animal Health Agency) of CEMAC, and <strong>Elsa Dibongue<\/strong>, Secretary General of PREZODE. They addressed the following questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Why should prevention be considered a central objective and benefit of One Health implementation?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How can countries demonstrate the economic and societal value of prevention-oriented investments?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What financing mechanisms can support long-term, multisectoral prevention programs?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How can partnerships between governments, regional organizations, development banks, research institutions, civil society, and the private sector generate greater impact?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What are the lessons learned from countries that are already operationalizing prevention-focused One Health approaches?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Operationalizing One Health Prevention: Building Science\u2013Society\u2013Policy Interfaces from Local Action to Global Governance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Co-organized with the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) <\/strong><br><strong>September 6 \u2013 11:00 &#8211; 12:30 &#8211; Room 1.08<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This <a href=\"https:\/\/globalohc.org\/minisite\/9WOHC\/program#sun-6-sep-2026\">session<\/a> presented practical examples of dialogue mechanisms operating at local, national, and international levels. Case studies from Senegal, Vietnam, and global One Health initiatives illustrated how such platforms support prevention strategies across diverse contexts. These examples highlighted enabling environments, governance arrangements, community engagement, evidence-informed decision-making, and coordination of financing for prevention. Before taking on that role and since the start of the Pandemic, Nina&nbsp;and the FOUR PAWS team led advocacy efforts, supporting member states in anchoring actionable provisions on prevention and One Health in collaboration with a broad coalition of animal welfare and conservation NGOs and experts. <br>Between 2013 and 2021, Nina&nbsp;led the International Campaigns on Farm Animals&nbsp;and&nbsp;Nutrition at FOUR PAWS. He holds a PhD in Management Sciences, with a specialisation in health systems management in Africa, and works on the development of integrated surveillance systems for the early detection of zoonotic diseases within a One Health framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of AfriCam \u2014 the first multi-country project under the PREACTS initiative, funded by AFD \u2014 he also leads \u201cScience, Society, Policy\u201d dialogue activities in the Saint-Louis and Kedougou regions. She holds a 23 year-experience in managing and coordinating international cooperation programmes and ODA-funded projects in the fields of environment, agriculture and One Health. Her current responsibilities include coordinating multi-sectoral cooperation among government agencies, international organizations, development partners and other stakeholders to advance the One Health approach and strengthen collaboration on zoonotic disease prevention and control in Viet Nam.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img href=\"http:\/\/www.blri.gov.bd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute<\/a>, Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (<a href=\"http:\/\/cvasu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CVASU<\/a>), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fao.org\/home\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FAO<\/a>), and&nbsp;the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flemingfund.org\/countries\/bangladesh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fleming Fund Country Grant to Bangladesh<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr Nitish Debnath has worked as a<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>Vice Chancellor, Dean, and Professor of Microbiology and Public Health of CVASU, and Senior Technical Advisor for One Health and Veterinary Education in FAO.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the past few years, Dr. Debnath has been working with the Fleming Fund Country Grant to Bangladesh DAI Global as Team Lead.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He relies on a vast network of professional experts of One Health: chairing&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/terrance.who.int\/mediacentre\/data\/ebola\/RRT\/OH\/11_BAN2_EN.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">One Health Bangladesh<\/a>&nbsp;since its inception in 2008, member of the One Health High-Level Expert Panel (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/groups\/one-health-high-level-expert-panel\/meetings-and-working-groups\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OHHLEP<\/a>), a member of the Technical Advisory Panel of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nature4health.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">N4H<\/a>, a member of the executive board of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.onehealthpoultry.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">One Health Poultry Hub<\/a>, a former member of the governing board of the International Association For Ecology and Health (IAEH) and Council on International Veterinary Medical Education (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aavmc.org\/programs\/civme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CIVME<\/a>), former President of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/bvc.gov.bd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bangladesh Veterinary Council<\/a>&nbsp;(BVC) and former alternate member of the governing board of Pandemic Fund as representative of Civil Society, South.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Nitish Debnath holds a degree of DVM from the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bau.edu.bd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bangladesh Agricultural University<\/a>, an MSc in Tropical Veterinary Medicine from the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ed.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of Edinburgh<\/a>, and a Ph.D. in Virology from the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.surrey.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of Surrey<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nitish&nbsp;is a member of class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Laure Weber-Vintzel is a Senior Livestock Specialist at the World Bank Group, where she provides technical support on sustainable livestock and One Health-related analytics and operations. He currently manages projects related to One Health, pandemics, HIV, and TB, coordinates the Activists Coalition on TB \u2013 Asia-Pacific (ACT! AP), and serves as the monitoring and evaluation focal point for APCASO.
