{"id":249,"date":"2025-03-13T11:41:13","date_gmt":"2025-03-13T10:41:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/prezode-initiative.org\/?page_id=249"},"modified":"2026-02-13T14:07:00","modified_gmt":"2026-02-13T13:07:00","slug":"steering-committee","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/prezode-initiative.org\/en\/steering-committee\/","title":{"rendered":"The role of the Steering Committee"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Steering Committee proposes a strategy and time-bound deliverables to the GA and oversees the implementation of the initiative.<br><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-346581e5401023d90793796bdfb8e601\" style=\"color:#2894bf\"><strong>Aims and Activities<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The Steering Committee (SC) is the body that elaborates and proposes the strategic orientations for the initiative.<br>In particular, it will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>propose annual work plans and budgets for the initiative,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>propose other strategic documents,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>propose revisions of the Terms of Reference of the governance of the initiative,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>propose revisions of the Strategic Agenda for the initiative every 2 years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The SC will also responsible for making decisions on several actions related to the initiative. In particular, it will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>decide on the endorsement (under PREZODE label) by PREZODE of projects, programs and networks based on the evaluation by an ad-hoc working group,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>decide whether PREZODE should endorse (with the PREZODE label) projects, programmes, and networks based on an assessment by an ad-hoc working group,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>decide on working groups or task forces on specific topics, guide and review their activities,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>engage and communicate with potential partners and stakeholders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The SC will guide the Secretariat and review its activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a1330078fd0b8ff03e262bc6311bfea5\" style=\"color:#2894bf\"><strong>Composition<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The SC is composed of the following five colleges:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Scientific college: five internationally acknowledged scientific experts, in their individual capacity, one for each pillar of the initiative. Members are elected for a two-year term by the GA.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Region college: five delegates, one per world region, elected for a two-year term by the PREZODE members of the same region.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One Health international organizations college: one representative per signatory organization, with a limit of four representatives in total.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Donors Committee: one representative nominated by the Donors Committee.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Civil Society College: three representatives from non-profit NGOs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Secretary General and the Chair of the SAB sit on the SC as observers. A balance will be sought among regions, genders, and the dimensions of human, animal and environmental health when organizing the SC elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-left is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-fdcfc74e wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-background-color has-pz-orange-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/prezode-initiative.org\/en\/members-type\/sc-2025\/\">Meet the 2025 &#8211; 2027 Steering Committee members<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:27px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-left is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-fdcfc74e wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-background-color has-pz-orange-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/prezode-initiative.org\/en\/members-type\/sc\/\">Meet the 2023 &#8211; 2025 Steering Committee members<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-050e234e8e274cd7f18dd06d528d55da\" style=\"color:#2894bf\"><strong>Role of the Chair of the SC<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chair of the SC shall chair the meetings of the SC and:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>consult members of the SC on proposals for the GA,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ensure that proposals to the GA are prepared and finalized for the GA meetings,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>guide the Secretariat in the preparation of the SC meetings,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>advise the President and Vice President of the GA,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>oversee the implementation plan of PREZODE.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-9d020ab930d2a545564ba11c0932c50b\" style=\"color:#2894bf\"><strong>Election<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Steering Committee elects a Chair among its members. Election of the representatives and the Chair of the SC will be organized by the Secretariat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-61f7df64a59b44185d8aa449e7cded0e\" style=\"color:#2894bf\"><strong>Voting rights<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Each member of the SC has one vote with the same weight. To validate decisions, a quorum of 50% of the members of the SC must be reached.<br>All decisions shall be made by consensus whenever possible. If a consensus cannot be reached, decisions may be reached by a simple majority vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-9dd05802f3b91d931016fb4d11cc371a\" style=\"color:#2894bf\"><strong>Meetings<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The SC may meet each month, online or in person, and convene additional ad-hoc meetings through sub-groups.
